I’ve used this game with U9s through U16s – it is a good activity to get a lot of touches, transitions, and goals.
Description
Players are organized into 3 teams. 2 teams are on the field, the third team serve as outside neutral players. When one of the teams scores, the other team switches with the neutral team. On scoring the team that scores keeps possession but now must score on the other goal.
Coaching Points
On scoring, encourage both attackers and new defenders to quickly transition. Be willing to show some patience in possession, use the neutral players to spread out the defenders – on the attack it is 8v4.
Limit touch count of neutrals to 2-3 (depending on age).
